Biography

                                    
 Neal M. Reitz, CPA

Neal
brings over 40 years of tax and accounting experience to his practice. He received his B.S. is Accounting from the University of Southern California in 1974. He also received his Masters in Business Administration from USC in 1977. Before starting Neal Reitz & Company in 1981, Neal worked for Ernst & Young, one of the "Big Four" accounting firms in both the tax and audit departments.

In addition to obtaining his Certified Public Accounting license in 1976, Neal also holds his Series Six and Series Seven security licenses as well as health and life insurance licenses.  Neal has been published in INC Magazine, Cardiology Management, and Ambulatory Care.    

Neal has repeatedly served as an expert witness in cases dealing with tax and accounting issues as well as divorce valuation. He continues to provide representation for taxpayers in IRS and Franchise Tax Board audits. 

Neal enjoys spending time with his two grandchildren during his free time. 

              
 Spencer M. Reitz, CPA

Spencer received his B.S. in Accounting as well as his Masters in Business Taxation from the University of Southern California in 2009. Spencer worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers, one of the “Big Four” accounting firms, in the Private Company Services department until joining Neal Reitz and Company in late 2010. Spencer obtained his Certified Public Accounting license in early 2010, and has expertise involving all aspects of tax specifically individual and corporate issues. Spencer has handled numerous IRS audits involving complex tax issues and calculations. Spencer enjoys IRS interface and is frequently represents taxpayers in front of the IRS and FTB.

Spencer grew up in Southern California and like his sister Brittany spent his early days playing competitive junior tennis. Spencer still enjoys playing tennis in his free time as well as working out and cooking.    

 Brittany Reitz Morton, EA

Brittany has been part of Neal Reitz & Company for over five years and is currently the Tax and Operations Manager. Brittany's expertise encompasses all aspects of tax and accounting services including individual, partnership, and corporate taxation as well as payroll and bookkeeping. In addition, she has specific expertise with accounting software including Lacerte and QuickBooks. Brittany has extensive experience with dealing with the IRS and state taxing agencies. She has successfully handled a wide range of IRS audits and taxpayer inquiries, working with the taxpayer and IRS to achieve positive results. 

Brittany is an Enrolled Agent who is licensed by the U.S. Department of the Treasury to represent taxpayers before all administrative levels of the Internal Revenue Service for audits, collections, and appeals. Prior to joining Neal Reitz & Company, Brittany worked as a portfolio accountant at the Capital Group Companies. Brittany graduated from the University of San Diego with a Bachelors of Accountancy, where she was awarded a full-ride athletic (tennis) scholarship. Brittany is an active CPA candidate and is in the process of completing the rigorous series of exams required for CPA licensing and is on schedule to obtain her CPA license by the end of 2012.

Brittany and her husband, Brian, have two wonderful children.


John J. Pulles, CPA                                     

John  possesses over 25 years of tax and accounting experience. John received his B.S. in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting from Chapman University while employed as a staff accountant at Thomas & Fees Accountancy, an Orange County firm specializing in the Dental & Medical field.

Upon passing the C.P.A. exam, John secured employment with U.C.I. Medical Center as a financial analyst. He continued his career in public accounting with Moore, Stephens, Wurth, Frazier & Torbett, a firm specializing in accounting and taxation of the Construction Industry. After satisfying the C.P.A. licensing experience at the accounting firm, John became involved in starting a Charter School for underprivileged students, where he was brought in to hold the position of CFO/Controller of the school and then went on to obtain his Certified Public Accounting license.

In 2006, John joined Neal Reitz & Company, where he concentrates his expertise on business taxation and compliance as well as resolving issues with the IRS and state & local agencies.


Brian R. Morton, ASA, CDFATM

Brian is a Divorce and Valuation Manager at Neal Reitz & Company. Brian has experience in forensic accounting and business valuation for both divorce and gift and estate tax purposes.

As a Certified Divorce Financial AnalystTM, Brian works with clients individually or as couples, helping them to come to grips with the financial reality of their individual divorce situation. Brian has experience evaluating the tax implications of dividing property and the financial impact of various settlement options for dividing marital property and child and spousal support payments.

Brian also has over five years of broad-based business valuation experience in a variety of industries. Brian has significant experience determining discounts for lack of control and lack of marketability for fractional interests in real property and for interests in business entities which hold real property and marketable securities, debt instruments, and other traditional and non-traditional assets. He is also experienced with determining the valuation impact of holding investment assets inside a C corporation, as well as valuing non-voting securities, debt instruments, restricted and other illiquid blocks of common stock, and other non-traditional business interests. 

Brian is an Accredited Senior Appraiser of the American Society of Appraisers, a Certified Divorce Financial AnalystTM of the Institute for Divorce Financial AnalystsTM and a member of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.

Brian has worked as a Senior Associate at FMV Opinions, Inc., a national business valuation and financial advisory services firm headquartered in Irvine, California. Brian graduated from the University of California, Irvine, with a degree in Economics, and was the Captain of the UCI Men’s Tennis Team.

 

Phill V. Reitz, CPA

Phill brings to Neal Reitz & Company over 30 years of experience in tax and accounting and has special expertise in computerized bookkeeping and financial planning systems as well as corporate and partnership taxation.  Phill graduated from the University of Southern California in 1975 and worked with a local accounting firm prior to joining Neal Reitz & Company in 1981.  Phill has worked closely with accounting staffs of various Health Care organizations particularly ambulatory care centers.  He is well versed in all aspects of accounting related to the medical services industry.
